Orion was contracted for the Reynolds Pier Phase 1 project, involving the upgrade and extension of an existing cruise terminal in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. The initiative aimed to accommodate larger vessels and included the construction of a new fendering system, installation of six mono-pile breasting dolphins, addition of six mooring dolphins, and extension of the concrete trestle pier access way to the eastern side. The project, commissioned by the Port Authority of Jamaica, played a crucial role in enhancing Jamaica's cruise infrastructure.
Orion embarked on the Reynolds Pier Phase 1 project, a significant endeavor involving the upgrade and extension of an existing cruise pier located in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. This project was undertaken as the prime contractor for the Port Authority of Jamaica. The primary goal was to enhance the cruise terminal to accommodate the berthing of larger vessels, addressing the evolving needs of maritime traffic in the region.
The scope of work encompassed the comprehensive construction and installation of crucial elements. A new fendering system was introduced, designed to provide safety and stability of vessels during docking operations. Additionally, six mono-pile breasting dolphins were strategically placed along the 215m suspended pier, providing crucial support and maneuvering capabilities for incoming cruise ships. Six new mooring dolphins were installed, each supported by sturdy 1.2m-diameter x 44.2m-long steel piles.
An integral part of this project involved the extension of the concrete trestle pier access way to the eastern side, optimizing accessibility and functionality. This enhancement aimed at facilitating smoother operations and accommodating the increasing demands of the cruise industry.
The Reynolds Pier Phase 1 project represented a crucial step in the development of maritime infrastructure in Ocho Rios, contributing to the region's capacity to host and service larger cruise vessels effectively.
